Participation to V-NanoDay 2026

Congratulations to our PhD student Dr. Muhammad Amir Muawiya for his presentation at V-NanoDay 2026.

The work presented focuses on using Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNC), a wood-derived nanomaterial, as an endotherapeutic strategy against Xylella fastidiosa, one of the most destructive plant pathogens threatening European agriculture. Our innovative and sustainable approach received great appreciation from research leaders in the field of nanotechnology.

Key highlights from the study:

  • Significant disease reduction in planta
  • Systemic bacterial movement restriction through the vascular system
  • A surprising VBNC mechanistic finding
  • Zero phytotoxicity at therapeutic dose
