Dr. Sara Francesconi – RTT

Researcher at the University of Tuscia since 2021. During her PhD, she successfully experimented with precision agriculture, combining it with the latest molecular technologies for the early diagnosis of fusarium head blight. Lecturer on the Master’s degree courses in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and on the course ‘Plant Biotechnology for Food and Global Health’.

Her main areas of research include the study of the induction of acquired systemic resistance in plants, the control of fusarium head blight, and the application of nanomaterials in agriculture. She has gained research experience in the Czech Republic and Austria.

Dr. Daniele Schiavi – RTDA

Researcher at the University of Tuscia since 2024, he obtained his PhD with a thesis on the control of bacterial pathogens. In particular, he has developed and studied formulations based on nanomaterials derived from organic polymers, such as cellulose and lignin. Lecturer on the international curriculum of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

His main areas of research include sustainable crop protection, the antimicrobial mechanisms of active substances, and the ecology of plant pathogenic bacteria. He has gained research experience in the United States (University of Florida).

Dr. Cecilia Miccoli – Research Fellow

Researcher at the University of Tuscia since 2022, with previous research experience at the University of Molise, CREA (Research Centre for Fruit Growing) and Duke University in North Carolina (USA). In her PhD thesis, she worked on the development of biocontrol agents against post-harvest diseases in apples (caused by Penicillium expansum). Her main areas of research include post-harvest biological control, fungal biology and plant–pathogen interactions.

Dr. Linda Felici – Research Fellow

Researcher at the University of Tuscia since 2024. During her PhD research, part of which was carried out at the Mycology and Food Safety Research Centre – INRAE (Bordeaux, France), she studied the role of anthocyanins and other flavonoids in the wheat – Fusarium interaction, using a transcriptomic approach. Her main areas of research include the role of polyphenols in plant resistance and the application of naturally derived compounds for plant defence.
