MULTIFRU

“Multifunctional utilisation of pigmented wheat varieties for the production of functional foods and green nano-agropharmaceuticals for wheat protection”.

The MULTIFRU project is consistent with the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and the Agrifood Cluster. The aims and objectives of the project fall within eligible themes such as “nanotech”, “new materials” and “biotech”.

The project consists of 6 WPs, which address specific issues within the wheat supply chain, including the production of foods with high health benefits (varieties with high polyphenol content), the study of plant-pathogen interactions between these innovative wheat lines and the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum, the causative agent of Fusarium head blight, and the use of waste from the wheat supply chain to produce eco-innovative plant protection products for the control of this disease.

The aims and objectives of the project will be achieved through collaboration between two research organisations: the University of Tuscia, Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences (DAFNE), and La Sapienza University, Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases (DSPMI).
